I’m appalled that two members of the House could spout disinformation about rights and the legal system, while calling their detractors “uninformed” and “ignorant of history”. After the military has admitted to water boarding prisoners at Guantanamo (it is not “Gitmo” by the way), he claims that, “nope, it never happened”. After all, HE, was there. As far as bringing the “prisoners to US soil” making more Americans unsafe, he does not make a clear case. The legal system will overload if we add 100 more cases? He does however make a clear the case that terrorists “hate Christians” and “hate the Bible”, but are treated well anyway despite throwing feces and urine at their guards. Both speak of Americans murdered, but all examples except 9/11 occurred in the Middle East (Lebanon, Iran, Iraq). I guess they are incapable of understanding why the Welcome Wagon does not cheerfully meet Americans after we, and our CIA, invade their lands.
I’ve heard this sort of rhetoric before in the 30’s, but most of it was in German. “We must have an Iron Will.” Having that we could have won the war in Viet Nam, these hawks claim.
While some fanatics are at war with us, only Congress can declare war against them. Up to now the War on Terror is a cousin to the War on Drugs, the War on Poverty, the War on Pollution, and other such nonsensical wars fought by our mighty war czars. If we followed the sage advice of Washington, Jefferson, and Eisenhower, we would be in as much danger today as Switzerland is. “Leaders” like these two will not be satisfied until the US really does get nuked. Will they be happy then?
The neoNazis were misidentified. The new, or neo, variety do not wear swastikas, but are readily identified by their tough talk and willingness to let OTHERS die for the sake of THEIR ideals. I am not willing to sacrifice MY three sons except to defend American soil!
