Obama cannot open this can of worms until he has solved our more pressing problems (Depression, two wars, Iran, North Korea, failed war on drugs, illegal immigration, ….). To do so now would activate enemies among those who supported these criminals. A tiny handful of such enemies could expose him to the possibility of filibusters in the Senate.
Actually, this is a deeply moral issue; it tests America’s committment to the its highest values.
This can be faught on two fronts. A brave state prosecuter can take up the gauntlet and make his/her own indictment to be played out in the American court system. In our hearts, we as Americans know that the Bush Administration was morally corrupt.
Isn’t it our duty on the home front to speak out? Must we give President Obama only one option?
Indictments of Bush’s criminals can only serve to erase the taint his Administration has colored all of us with.
